Lend a hand and make a change!

It’s thanks to the support of generous volunteers like you, that we can save sight and change lives. To make finding an opportunity for you extra easy, we’ve suggested some ideas below for Little Big Helpers, Big Helpers and Super Big Helpers.

No matter what you are good at, there’s something to suit helping hands of all shapes and sizes! From raising awareness of sight loss in your community to fundraising to support our work transforming the lives of blind and partially sighted people, the more of us who join in, the bigger help we will be!

For little ones who want to make a big impact!

Support us with a spring clear-out!

Pack up pre-loved toys and games and donate to a Vision Foundation charity shop to raise funds to support the visually impaired community! Did you know each bag of donations is worth roughly £30 to us?

If you’re not local to our shops, you could host a yard sale, or sell on eBay, and donate the proceeds here.

Get crafting to raise awareness of sight loss.

We’ve created a fun, print-at-home glasses design activity for Little Big Helpers to colour in, decorate or bedazzle whilst learning about the visually impaired community and talking about ways to maintain good eye health! Why not invite over friends, cousins and classmates to join in and raise awareness of sight loss in your community?

Download the print-at-home glasses activity and explore our blogs for conversation starters around sight loss awareness, including: Thinking Eye Smart, Meet inspiring researchers, 5 facts about braille, Chloe’s story, How does a blind person abseil down a waterfall?, Tour tours – getting hands on with accessible theatre, Myth-busting.

Bake for a breakthrough this Bank Holiday.

Megan and Isla (aged 7 and 9) raised an amazing £82 selling baked treats to their neighbours in aid of Vision Foundation and Fight for Sight. Why not have a go at baking some cupcakes to share with friends, family and neighbours during the Bank Holiday weekend?

We’ve put together this fantastic, fundraiser-friendly cupcake recipe for little bakers. Download the PDF here and plain Word document version here. You can also download our paper donation box print template so your Little Big Helper can design and build their own collection box for their bake sale!

Volunteer to cheer at a challenge event!

Throughout the year, our incredible supporters raise money to change lives and save sight by taking part in challenge events. From marathons, to pelotons, muddy races to epic swims, there’s something for everyone! One of the most important parts of a challenge event is the enthusiastic cheer squad motivating them from the sidelines. Make a day of it and bring your family along for an exciting trip into the city, meeting new people and making a difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people.

Check out this blog by Fundraising Assistant, Olivia with the top 5 reasons to get your cheer on for Vision Foundation and Fight for Sight!
