Webinar: Understanding loneliness and isolation in the visually impaired community

Disabled people are more than twice as likely to feel isolated or lonely compared to the general population. our own research (2019) suggested that losing sight and associated barriers to accessing transport, employment and technology, left 80% of blind and partially sighted people feeling lonely.

Shockingly little is understood about what this experience is actually like, the key factors at play and potential solutions. Researchers at Abertay University have conducted indepth interviews and surveyed over 100 blind and partially sighted people to help us understand the issues and potential solutions.

Join Fight For Sight / Vision Foundation, our research partners from Abertay University and a panel of experts to unpick the research findings and explore how we reverse the epidemic of loneliness and isolation for blind and partially sighted people. This webinar is a unique chance for current and potential partners, supporters and allies to shape future funding opportunities and share insights on what is happening already and the services, resources and ideas that should be funded and delivered in future.
