Navigating lockdown

Thank you for helping us continue our life-changing work during the Covid-19 crisis.A lady, Odette, walking down the street with a white cane. Odette wears an orange face mask due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As we emerge from the latest set of government restrictions, we are doing all that we can to ensure essential services for blind and partially sighted people continue to run.

The impact of the pandemic has been substantial on our fundraising activity, with our charity shops temporarily closed to keep our communities safe and many events sadly postponed.

But with your continued support, we have been able to adapt our work to provide a lifeline to those hardest hit by the global pandemic.

Since Covid-19 restrictions first started…

  • We have been finding new ways to keep blind and partially sighted Londoners in touch with the world. That has meant supporting everything from employability workshops and befriending schemes to investing in virtual sporting activities and food parcel deliveries.
  • We have been amplifying the voices of the sight loss community in London by sharing their stories of life during lockdown through our social media campaigns such as #BlindLockdownLife.
  • We have worked with our partners to launch life-changing initiatives such as London’s first Sight Loss Council, working to drive lasting change for blind and partially sighted people across Education, Employment, Transport, Technology, Sport & Leisure and Health & Social Care.
