Events

Throughout the year we run events to engage people in our work and to support the wider sight loss sector by sharing best practice and knowledge. We aim to raise awareness of the issues surrounding sight loss through engaging and informative events with high profile speakers. Our training cover topics such as effective fundraising, measuring impact, marketing and communications, governance and safeguarding.

Calling all visually impaired young people between 16–25!

In March 2022 Vision Foundation and LOOK (with support from the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation) teamed up to host an employment conference for visually impaired 16-25 year olds. The conference, attended by over 50 young people ready to take the step from education to employment, provided everything a young visually impaired person needs to land their dream job.

A host of speakers (27 in total of which 23 are visually impaired) shared information about self-advocacy, Access To Work, CV writing and interview skills, assistive tech and work experience placements.

Vision Foundation and Cubitts present: The Story Of Looking. In October 2021, following the launch of Mark Cousin’s Film The Story of Looking, we held a live Q&A with Mark and special guests Dr Amit Patel and Bulaji Shrivastav.

In February 2021 giants of stage and screen, Dame Judi Dench, Stephen Fry and Mayley Mills came together for an online virtual event to launch the Vision Foundation’s Centenary Appeal and 100th anniversary celebrations.

In June 2020 we ran a webinar focusing on how organisations working with blind and partially sighted people can navigate coming out of lockdown. We brought together three experts in employment law, insurance and business planning and accessibility.
